IASP Collaborative Research Grants

April 4 Deadline Pending for 2018 IASP Collaborative Research Grant Submissions

International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP)

The International Society for the Study of Pain is accepting submissions for its 2018 Collaborative Research Grants until April 4, 2018, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time. IASP will announce grant awards by the end of May 2018, and will disburse funding for the initial 12-month grant period upon satisfactory execution of the grant agreement between IASP and the grant recipient's institution.

The grants program supports research by two or more partnering groups located in different countries. IASP, which has members in nearly 130 countries, may award grants of up to US$15,000 to research proposals that demonstrate the greatest merit and potential for success. Grants cover travel and accommodation costs to support collaborative work but do not support overhead. To date, IASP has united and funded collaborating scientists with more than $500,000.

Applications will be reviewed by the Fellowships, Grants, and Awards Working Group of IASP, so careful adherence to guidelines and qualifications will help maximize submission success.

For instance, in addition to describing how the data compiled through the project will influence future work or external support, applicants should note that principal investigators must have been an IASP member for at least one year. Applicants also must respond to all of the following questions in one sentence:

  • What problem does this collaborative research address?
  • How will the research do so?
  • What are the implications of the project’s outcomes?
